Weevils defeated by #16 Ouachita Baptist on the road 49-14

The University of Arkansas at Monticello travelled to Arkadelphia this past week to face their second nationally ranked opponent in consecutive weeks, facing the #16 Ouachita Baptist University Tigers.

OBU would receive the football to begin the contest after UAM defer the coin toss.

OBU would begin the drive at their own 39 and would drive the field, scoring on the drive and adding the extra point to go up 7-0.

On UAM’s first drive of the contest, Demilon Brown would be sacked in the backfield, fumbling the ball with OBU recovering the fumble for a touchdown. 

After the extra point, the Tigers were up 14-0.

UAM would get on the board on their next possession. 

Starting their drive on their own 25, the Weevils would reach the end zone on a 52 yard pass to Isaiah Cross for the first Weevil touchdown of the contest. 

Dylan Duhon would come on to connect on the extra point attempt to cut the lead to 14-7 with 5:15 remaining in the quarter.

OUachita Baptist would add one more touchdown in the quarter to extend the lead to 21-7 heading into the second quarter.

OBU would go on to add two more touchdowns in the half to take a 28-7 halftime lead.

Ouachita would get the first score of the second half to take a 42-7 lead before the Weevils would get their final touchdown of the game.

The Weevil touchdown would come on a 16-yard touchdown pass to DJ Russell.

After the extra point, Ouachita led 42-14.

The Tigers would add one more score in the contest to set up the final score of 49-14.

With the win, Ouachita improves to 4-0 on the season with UAM falling to 2-2.

UAM will return to the road for this week's Great American Conference contest for the second consecutive week.

UAM will travel to Ada, Oklahoma to face the East Central Tigers who are currently 0-4.

Kickoff for the Weevils and Tigers is at 3 pm on Saturday.
