Weevils drop fifth consecutive contest with loss to Arkansas Tech

The University of Arkansas at Monticello Boll Weevils lost their fifth consecutive contest on Saturday, hosting the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys at Steelman Fieldhouse.

The Weevils last saw victory on January 9 at Steelman Fieldhouse with a 66-61 win over East Central University for their only Great American Conference win thus far in the season.

The Weevils would drop their next contest in a close game against Southeastern Oklahoma State University by a score of 62-58.

The Weevils would go on to fall in their next three contests to Northwestern Oklahoma State University (73-68), Southwestern Oklahoma State University (71-63), and to Southern Arkansas University (76-63) before hosting Arkansas Tech on Saturday, January 25.

The Weevils and Wonder Boys would go back and forth in the first half with Arkansas Tech holding the biggest lead of six points, but UAM would come back to pull within one point at the half, 23-22.

Arkansas Tech would lead throughout the second half with the biggest lead being 13 points with the Wonder Boys going on to take victory by eight points, 48-40.

Seth Grandberry would lead the Weevils with 17 points followed by Tadarius Jacobs with nine points. 

Alex Brogdon and Devin Davis each scored six points with Jamir Turner rounding out the scoring with two points.

The Weevils will return to Stellman Fieldhouse on Thursday, January 30, hosting the Southern Nazarene University at 7:30 pm.
