The University of Arkansas at Monticello Boll Weevils returned to Steelman Fieldhouse on Thursday night to host the Northwestern Oklahoma State Rangers.
Coming into the contest, the Weevils had won two consecutive contests to improve their Great American Conference record to 3-5.
Northwestern would take a 4-0 lead to begin the contest but Jakob Zenon would connect on a three-pointer to cut the lead to 4-3.
Northwestern would score the next six points to increase their lead to 9-3.
UAM would answer the run with a 7-0 run with Giancarlo Valdez connecting on a three to give the Weevils a 10-9 lead.
Northwestern would lead the Weevils until the 4:24 mark when Zenon would tie the contest at 27 on a three-pointer.
Another three by Zenon would give the Weevils a three-point lead followed by a three by Lamont Jackson to put the Weevils up 33-27 with 2:08 remaining in the half.
The Weevils would increase their lead to 10 points after the 10-0 run, capped off on a layup by Zenon to give the Weevils a 37-27 lead with 46 seconds left in the half.
Northwestern would get the final points of the half on a pair of free throws with the Weevils leading 37-29 at the halftime break.
Returning from the break, the Weevils would increase their lead to 12 points on three different occasions to begin the second half.
Northwestern began to cut away at the lead at 13:50 remaining in the contest and would take the lead with 10:07 on the clock.
UAM would tie the contest at 51 with 6:27 on the clock but the Rangers would retake the lead 20 seconds later and would hold the lead until the final buzzer, taking the contest 64-59.
Ashton Price led the way with 20 points followed by Jakob Zenon with 14 and Josh Smith with eight.
Issac Jackson scored seven with Giancarlo Valdez and Lamont Jackson scoring five.
Returning to Steelman Fieldhouse on Saturday to host Southwestern Oklahoma State University, the Bulldogs would get the first point sof the contest with UAM tying the game on a jumper by Ashton Price.
Southwestern would go on a 9-0 run before going on to take the first half with a 15-point, 36-21, lead.
Southwestern would continue to lead by double-digits for most of the second half with the Weevils cutting the lead to nine points twice before the Bulldogs took the 12-point, 74-62, win.
Issac Jackson would lead the way for the Weevils with 18 points followed by Ashton Price with 17.
Josh Smith finished with 13, Jakob Zenon with nie, and Gianssen Valdez with five.
The Weevils will return to Steelman Fieldhouse on Thursday, January 22, hosting Southern Arkansas at 7:30 pm and at Arkanas Tech in Russellville on Saturday, January 24, with tip-off set for 3 pm.
