The 2024 Football Season came to an end on Saturday for the UAM Boll Weevils in the annual “Battle of the Timberlands” game against Southern Arkansas University.
Celebrating the 2024 Seniors on “Senior Day,” the Weevils would conduct the Senior Ceremony before the opening kickoff.
UAM would have first possession of the contest after a touchback on the opening kickoff, and on the first play of the contest, Demilon Brown would be hit in the backfield with SAU scooping a fumble and scoring the first touchdown of the contest.
SAU would take a 14-0 lead on their next possession and would have a 24-0 lead by the end of the first quarter.
UAM would get on the board in the second quarter on a 12 yard run by Brown, but the extra point wasn’t successful as SAU maintained a 24-6 lead.
Later in the quarter, Dylan Duhon would add a 31 yard field goal to cut the lead to 24-9, but SAU added a score before the end of half to take a 27-9 lead.
UAM cut the lead to 27-16 in the third quarter with a one yard run by Brown and an extra point by Duhon.
The rushing touchdown would tie Brown for the career rushing record with 36 that was held by Corwin Elliott.
SAU would add a score in the quarter to take a 34-16 lead into the fourth quarter.
SAU would add three more touchdowns in the quarter but it was the UAM touchdown with 4:55 remaining in the game that would give Demilon Brown rushing touchdown number 37 on a five yard run to make him the all-time rushing touchdown leader at UAM. SAU would go on to defeat the Weevils 54-22, dropping the Weevils to 4-6 on the season.
Brown finishes his career at UAM as the rushing touchdown leader with 37 and yards per carry with 5.4, and second in rushing yards with 3187.
Brown moves to fourth in passing yards with 7343 and tied for fifth in touchdowns with 53.
