Weevils pick up seventh series win of the season with wins at Ouachita

The University of Arkansas at Monticello improved their overall record to 24-11 and their Great American Conference record to 19-5 with their seventh series win over GAC opponent Ouachita Baptist University.

Beginning the series on Thursday, April 1, The Weevils and Tigers would begin the contest with two scoreless innings.

In the top of the third inning, Elijah Olaybal singled into centerfield to score Camden Tanner to give the Weevils a 1-0  lead.

OBU would come back to score two runs in the bottom of the fourth and a run in the fifth to take a 3-1 lead.

The Weevils would tie the contest at three in the top of the sixth inning after Daniel Lizarraga singled to the right side of the field to score Drew Floyd and a single by Olaybal scored Tanner.

UAM took the lead in the top of the eighth after Drew Floyd scored on a wild pitch followed by a ground out by Olaybal scored Tanner for a 5-3 advantage.

OBU tied the contest in the bottom of the ninth inning and would get the winning run in the bottom of the 12th to take the first game of the series 6-5.

Returning on Friday, April 2, for a double-header.

In game one, the Weevils would get five runs in the top of the third inning.

Gabe Kuttenkuler would get the first run off a balk call.

Eli Marvin would connect for a three-run homerun and Darcy Barry would connect for a double to score Jackson Riedling for a 5-0 lead.

Gabe Kuttenkuler added a run in the top of the fourth on a solo shot to left field to go up 6-0.

OBU would get on the board in the bottom of the fourth with a single run.

UAM added four runs in the top of the fifth inning.

Kyle Tolley connected for a triple for two RBI.

Tanner would drive in a run on a ground out, and Lizarraga connected for an RBI single.

IN the top of the sixth inning, Darcy would extend the Weevil lead to 11-1 after scoring on a wild pitch.

OBU would get a run in the bottom of the sixth inning with UAM getting their final run in the top of the seventh.

Ouachita would score four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, with the Weevils taking game one 12-8.

Bryce Louis would throw seven innings in his thrid win of the season.

Returning for game two, the Weevils would get a run in the top of the second inning after Jackson Riedling crossed the plate before the Tigers could execute a double-play.

Ouachita would take the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning after scoring three runs to take the 3-1 advantage. 

UAM came back in the top of the sixth inning on RBI singles by Eli Marvin and Jackson Riedling.

The game would remain tied 3-3 for the remainder of regulation and in the top of the 11th inning, the Weevils would score four runs in the inning.

John White would pick up his fifth win of the season after a scoreless bottom half of the inning with the Weevils picking up the 7-3 win.

The Weevils will return to action on the road facing Southeast Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma with the opening game of the series starting on Friday at 3 pm and the conclusion on Saturday in a double-header starting at 12 pm.
