The UAM Boll Weevils came into Saturday’s contest looking to snap a four game losing streak against one of their longest football opponents in games that date back to 1920.

The Weevils would get the ball first to begin the contest and would start their drive at their own 40 yard line.

Demilon Brown would pick up eight yards on his first carry of the contest followed by an incomplete pass intended for Isaiah Cross.

Glenn Cage would pick up five yards for the first down on the next carry, getting the ball into Arkansas Tech territory to the 47 yard line.

Brown would connect with Cross on the next pass to get the ball to the ATU 38 and on the next play Brown would break free for a 38 yard run for the UAM touchdown.

Dylan Duhon added the extra point to give the Weevils a 7-0 lead with 12:57 remaining in the first quarter.

Duhon would kick the ball off after the UAM touchdown with the kick sailing 65 yards into the endzone for a touchback.

The UAM defense would make their presence known on the Wonder Boys first drive of the contest.

Robert Iverson Jr. would get the first three tackles for the Weevils in the contest including a hit in the backfield on Deuce Wise for a six yard loss and would follow with a sack to Ethan Everson on the next play for a seven yard loss that would force the Wonder Boys to punt from their own 20.

On the punt, UAM’s Jordan Mansfield would get through the line to block the Logan Tymeson punt, recovering the ball and going into the endzone for the UAM touchdown.

Duhon would come on to add the extra point to give the Weevils a 14-0 lead with 10:49 on the clock.

Duhon would get a 60 yard kick off to start the next series with Arkansas Tech taking the ball at their own five by CJ Palmer, who would return the ball back to the 17 yard line after a tackle by Derrean Morgan.

Arkansas Tech would be held on their side of the field by the UAM defense on their next series, with the Weevil defense forcing the Wonder Boys to punt the ball away from their own 376yard line with Royal Williams fair catching the ball at the UAM 16.

UAM would be forced to punt on their next possession with Tech’s next possession extending into the second quarter.

Once more the Weevils defense would keep Tech out of UAM territory with the Wonder Boys being forced to punt after a sack for a six yard loss by Tevontae Bond and Jase Williams.

UAM would start their drive on their own 25 after a block in the back penalty brought the ball back 10 yards from the 35 on the kickoff return.

After getting the ball into Tech territory to the 49, Brown would pick up 33 yards on the next play on a 33 yard run to the Tech 16.

Brown would target AK Hazley on the next pass but the pass would fall incomplete, but the Wonder Boys would be flagged for pass interference that moved the ball to the two yard line.

After a three yard loss, the Weevils would get two yards back on a run by Jase Williams to the three.

Brown would take the ball himself on the next play for the Weevil touchdown, his second of the contest.

Duhon added the extra point to give UAM a 21-0 lead.

Tech would get on the board at the end of the half on a 48 yard field goal for a halftime score of 21-3.

Tech would cut the lead to 21-10 in the third quarter, scoring on their opening drive and would add a field goal in the fourth quarter.

Duhon would give the Weevils their final score of the game on a 45 yard field goal to set up the 24-13 final.

With the win, the Weevils improve to 3-4 on the season and in Great American Conference play.

UAM will travel to Arkadelphia on Saturday, October 26, to face the Henderson State Reddies.

Henderson State fell out of the top 25 rankings this past week after losing to now 22 ranked Southern Arkansas 42-19 to drop to 5-2 on the season.

Henderson State and UAM are set to kickoff at 1 pm.
