The Uiversity of Arkansas at Monticello picked up a nonconference mid-week extra innings victory on Tuesday night at home against Christian Brothers before heading out to Alva, Oklahoma on Friday, March 20, to begin a three game Great American Conference series against the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Rangers.
On Tuesday, the Weevils would give up two first inning runs, but would get a run back in the bottom of the first inning after loading the bases, Jackson Reidling would draw an RBI walk that scored Daniel Lizarraga.
The Weevils would tie the contest 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth on a Camden Tanner double that scored Gavin Shuttlesworth.
Christian Brothers would go up 3-2 in the top of the 10th but Tanner would get an RBI in the bottom of the inning to keep the game in extra innings.
In the bottom of the 11th, Kyle Tolley would connect for a single that score Reidling for the 4-3 win.
Facing NWSOU on Friday, the Weevils would take the field at 1 pm for the first game of Friday’s double-header.
Each team would score a run in the first inning, but the Weevils would score in consecutive innings starting in the top of the fourth inning through the top of the ninth.
The Weevils would get a run in the fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh followed by three runs in the eightg and a run in the ninth inning to take the 9-1 win.
In game two of Friday’s double-header, the Weevils would go up 6-0 before the Rangers would get four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
UAM’s John White would keep the Rangers scoreless in the bottom of the seventh inning to earn his fourth save of the season in the 6-4 win.
The Weevils would complete the sweep on Saturday, March 21.
Bryce Louis would gewt his second win of the season with the Weevils scoring runs in five of the seven innings for a 13-1 win.
With the win the Weevils improved to 19-9 overall and 15-3 in GAC play.
UAM will return home on Friday to begin a three game series agaisnt Harding University with Friday’s game scheduled for 6 pm followed by a double-header in Saturday beginning at 1 pm.
