Ann Oakes, 83, of Monticello, passed away Friday, May 17, 2024, at Gardner Nursing and Rehab in Star City. She was born July 29, 1940, in Chickasha, Okla. to the late Steven Grissom and Claudine Shipley Grissom.
She was the widow of Charles E. Oakes, a homemaker and member of Tabernacle of Faith Church. Ann enjoyed embroidery, cooking, baking, taking care of all of her animals and spending time with her children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Dean and Richard Grissom; a sister, Bertha Looper; mother-in-law, Faye Oakes; father-in-law, Johnny Oakes; and a granddaughter, Brittney Beaucage.
Survivors include two sons, Eugene Oakes and Steve Oakes both of Monticello; two daughters, Margie Beaucage (Paul) of Star City and Toni Etue (Tim) of Star City; three sisters, Helen Kuykendall and Kay Delarosa both of Texas and Claudette Hitz of Pine Bluff; three brothers, Patrick, Don and Gordan Grissom all of Texas; grandsons, Brian Tucker, Josh Oakes, Matt Oakes, John Oakes, Matthew Oakes, Aaron Etue, Jason Holdcraft and Danny Smith; granddaughters, Wendy Tucker, Stacy Oakes, Angel Musselwhite, Heather Garrison, Randi Holdcraft, Amanda Garrison, Hannah Oakes, Cassidy Etue, Jasmine Tucker, Megan Oakes and Ashley Oakes; great-grandchildren, Ben Tucker, Jace Smith, Jemma Smith, Ava Herring, Kylie Herring, Grayson Holdcraft, Misti Musselwhite, Lizzie Oakes, Dani Oakes, Mason Oakes, Kenzie Oakes, Eli Oakes, Bekah Simpson and Luna Midkiff; and a special son-in-law, Ray Garrison of Monticello.
Funeral services were at  6 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Tabernacle of Faith Church in Monticello with Rev. Terry Norris officiating. Burial will be in Union Ridge Cemetery. There was a visitation from 6-8 p.m. Monday evening at the church.
