Carl Jeffery King, Sr., 66, of Monticello, passed away Monday, April 4, at the VA Hospital in Little Rock. He was born July 3, 1955, in Monticello, to the late Roosevelt King, Jr. and Ella Wea Witherspoon King.

He was a truck driver who loved to drive big rig Freightliners, a United States Army Veteran, a Baptist and was a man who loved people and never met a stranger.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Diane King of Monticello; two sons, Carl King, Jr. of Little Rock and Kevin King of Wynne; a granddaughter, Devyn Nicole King of Wynne; six brothers, Benny King (Betty) and Bufus King of St. Louis, Roosevelt King, III, Tommy King (Ann), Richard King and Michael King, Sr. all of Monticello; and four sisters, Ruby King of St. Louis, Marie King of Fairfield, Calif., Mary L. Ware of Oakland, Calif. and Brenda King of Monticello; along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 16, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel. Burial with military honors was in Green Mount Cemetery in Coleman. There was a visitation from 4-6 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. You can sign Carl's guestbook page at www.stephensondearman.com.
