Cheryl Susan Hudgens Shirey, 68, of Monticello went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, April 24, 2023, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. She was born May 27, 1954, in Hot Springs, Mont., to the late Winfred Hudgens and Marie Herring-Hudgens.
She was the widow of Homer H. Shirey and a member of the Monticello Church of Christ. Cheryl loved her Church of Christ family along with her Annswood Community and Senior Citizens families. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Judy Hudgens-Jenkins and Linda Hudgens-Griffin; a brother, Jimmy Hudgens; and a great grandson, Dawson Kayne Smith.
She is survived by two daughters, Dona Buie (Mike) of Sheridan and Hollie Bolling (William) of Monticello; two sons, J.R. Shirey (Michelle) of Topeka, Kan. and Christopher Shirey (Kimberly) of El Dorado; a sister (who was like a daughter) Michelle Bailey (Wayne) of Monticello; one brother, Kenny Hudgens (Cindy) of Monticello; granddaughter, Lizzie Gonzalez (Mateo) of Fordyce; granddaughter, Shaylee Tanner (Dylan) of Navarre, Fla; grandson, Dylan Smith (Laurie) of El Dorado; granddaughter, Jaycee Gordon of Little Rock; granddaughter, Lindsey Buie of Sheridan; granddaughter, Alaina Shirey of El Dorado; along with great grandchildren, Mateo, Matias and Byron Gonzalez, and Thatcher Smith.
Funeral services were held at11:00 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2023, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel with Rev. Josh Walker officiating. There was a visitation Thursday evening at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Monticello.
