Dewitt Collins

Dewitt Collins died on Monday, July 11, 2022, at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville, N.C.  He never liked the idea of flying and had his first flight back to Arkansas. Dewitt was the kindest person you could ever meet.  He would offer to help whenever and wherever was needed.  

He was born August 26 to the late Grover (GC) and Velma Collins in Coleman. He started his education at Drew Elementary and graduated from Monticello High School.  Dewitt worked at many of jobs while living in North Carolina, Arkansas and, in Milwaukee, where he spent some years. 

Dewitt is preceded in death by his parents, G.C. and Velma Collins, brothers; Jerry Collins and Kenneth Collins and many more family members that were waiting for him to arrive. 

Left behind to cherish his memory are four sisters, Julius Marie Nolen of Little Rock, Laura Ann (Charles) Davis, Evelyn Faye Collins (James R. Miller) of Milwaukee, and his favorite sister, Crozell LaJune Lucas of Fayetteville, N.C.,  four brothers; Sammy Collins of Montrose, Grover C. Collins of Milwaukee, Melvin Collins and William Earl Collins, of Monticello, and many uncles, nieces, nephews and many families and friends. Dewitt, a constant present in all of lives will be deeply missed. 

Graveside Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2022, in Green Mount Cemetery, Coleman. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2022 at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel.
