Lady Billies announce postseason awards at annual banquet

The Monticello Lady Billies concluded the 2024 Season with the annual end of the season sports banquet and  awards presentation. 

The banquet would begin with an opening meal and after dinner, head coach B. J. Jackson would take the podium to get the awards portion of the banquet started. 

Before presenting awards, Coach Jackson would thank parents and the Lady Billie fans for their support throughout the season and would also recognize assistant coaches and the contributions that they made to the success of the Lady Billie program, recognizing Coach Gary Pace, Coach Clayton Scott, and Coach Caleb Morgan.

There were many awards that would be presented with Coach Jackson naming the award and Coach Morgan handing out the awards. 

One of the awards that were presented was for Scholar Athletes.

In order to earn a Scholar Athlete award, the athlete must have earned and maintained a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and for the first time in the history of the program, every Monticello Lady Billie player achieved that certificate, 22 total Scholar Athletes including the team managers.

Macy Stell and Allie Regalado were the first to receive team awards, being named as the Newcomers of the Year.

Nora Rodriguez was awarded the Hustle Award with Presley Wagner receiving the Spirit Award with Coach Jackson stating that if she did not have a smile on her face something was wrong.

Ashlyn Snow and Skylar Burns were awarded the Defensive Award with Burns going on to represent the Lady Billies at the College Showcase on June 1 in Conway. 

Abri Scott earned the Lady Billie Award.

Ashley Hales was named All-Conference along with Kiley Lane, Libby Kingston, Addie Frazer, Alaina Lyle, Madeline Stanley, Audrey Howard.

Lyle and Frazer were named as All-State selections.

Lyle completed her season with .487 batting average with nine home runs and 31 RBI. Lyle was 14-1 as a pitcher, recording 152 strikeouts. 

Frazer would earn the Big Bopper award with 15 home runs on the season, 34 RBI, and a .435 batting average. Frazer was 8-1 pitching with 52 strikeouts.

The Lady Billies had two seniors on the team with Howard and Stanley.

Howard and Stanley are All-Star Nominees for the 8-4A with Stanley batting .304 with one home run and defensively having one error on the field for the season earning her a Defensive Award. 

Howard would finish the season with a .408 batting average and five home runs.

The two seniors were part of a three year run that won 63 games and for their career at Monticello won over 70 ballgames. 

Coach Jackson was named as the 8-4A Conference Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season and for the second time in his coaching career has won three consecutive conference titles.

These were not the only accolades Coach Jackson achieved this school year as he was also named to the Arkansas Officials Association Hall of Fame for his time as an Arkansas High School Official.

The Lady Billies finished the 2024 Season with a 24-2 record, the 8-4A Conference Championship for the third consecutive season, 4A South Regional Runner-up, 4A State Tournament appearance and set a new state record for home runs in a season hitting a total of 54 home runs on the season.
