Lola Mae Thompson, 86

Lola Mae Thompson, 86, passed away January 28, 2024. She was born April 3, 1937 in Perry County to the late Lewis Orrell and Nancy Dilbeck Orrell. She was a member of Pauline Baptist Church, and attended McGehee First Baptist prior to moving to Monticello. She loved working in her yard and tending to her garden. Spending time with her family is what she cherished the most.

Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Marny Thompson; brother, Jimmy Orrell; sister, Alice Waldrup.

Survivors include daughter, Darlene (Steve) Simpson of McGehee, and sister, Frances (Joe) Hayden of Coleman; two grandchildren Shawn (Serina) Simpson and April Wilson; seven great-grandchildren, Grace Wilson, Nicolas Wilson, Daniel Wilson, Elijah Simpson, Parker Simpson, Silas Simpson, and Finn Simpson; and a very special friend Jerry Hilton of Monticello.

The family would like to thank Jon Ghita, owner of “Young at Heart” Senior Care Home and Ruth Roberts for their excellent care. They would also like thank Dierkson Hospice for their compassionate care.

A visitation took place Tuesday, January 30, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service Chapel in McGehee. The funeral will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at 2 p.m., at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service Chapel in McGehee with Bro. Rick Miller officiating. Pallbearers will be Shawn Simpson, Jimmy Orrell, Jimmy Waldrup, Eddie Young, Darrell Windham, and Carey Windham.
